The best Auckland Christmas Lightup

By: Toni | Modified: Sep 9, 2021. This post may contain affiliate links, please read disclosure.

Whether at home or travelling I like to take a drive or walk in the evenings during December to enjoy the Christmas lights.  If you're in Auckland, New Zealand this Christmas then the best Auckland Christmas light up is on Franklin Road.

That's just off Ponsonby Road which is home to some of Auckland's best cafes, bars and restaurants. You can have dinner, a drink and then walk off the excesses while checking out the Christmas festivities.

Auckland Christmas Lights

From the 1st December until Christmas eve the homes in Franklin Road are lit up with the best of Christmas bling and sparkle.  Almost without exception, the resident's get into the spirit of the holidays and many of them must take their light shopping and planning seriously because their lighting stash always seem to have something a bit different.

It's a true Christmas wonderland, the kids have a ball and even the coffee carts have got in on the act with a warm cuppa to sip as you stroll along.  I'd definitely suggest finding a carpark nearby and walking through rather than trying to drive.  It's so popular now that driving with everyone milling in the street is a bit chaotic but if mobility is a consideration on the sloping street then a slow drive through is an option.

Have you been out to see the Christmas light-ups?  Where are the best ones in your city?
