Tokyo

Tokyo is the modern capital of Japan. It's also a diverse and exciting city to visit as a tourist. You can see all aspects of Japan in Tokyo which is why it is such a popular travel destination especially for a shorter trip. From the glow of the neon lights to ancient shrines and temple, expansive gardens and parks to densely packed highrises on some of the worlds most expensive realestate.

The food is incredible too, regardless of whether your budget stretches to 5-star kaiseki ryori or Mitchelin starred ramen that may cost you less than eating at McDonalds it's hard not to love Japanese cuisine. In Tokyo you can experience the ancient arts such as bonsai and the tea ceremony and watch national sports such as sumo and baseball. The city is packed and intense but when it all feels a little overwhelming jump on the train and head off for the day to climb a mountain, explore a heritage town or walk on the beach. Tokyo has it all in easy reach.
